Overall the Gearpod XL seems ok but I guess mine had a casting flaw as it did not fit in between the bars on my ACS rack on a 2016 Tacoma short bed. I knew it was going to be tight but the pad lock tabs rubbed on both sides. I was worried about the rubbing causing wear on the powdercoat so I contacted Leitner and he recommended to heat it a little and mold it in as the tabs are hollow and any cutting would be bad. That fixed that situation but there are others. The seal doesnt seem to seat 100% of the way around and there doesnt seem to be a way to rectify that but so far its not been a problem but the pod has only been on for 2 weeks. I also am not too happy that I bought this gear pod and almost immediately after the new one came out with the automatic lifters, would definitely have paid the extra $30 for that. I live on an island so shipping anything back is a huge hassle hence why I fixed mine, hopefully the weather seal does the job it needs to and thats not a issue. Overall I think its a decent product but not worth what I paid, at least mine isnt with its flaws

Ok, I'm sure that it will hold up for my purpose. And overall it's cool. But the thing with Leitner, is every nut and bolt and this and that costs. It's so easy to dump couple grand into the system before you are finished. I definitely don't like the ease in which a thief could disassemble and steal components. They have a theft proof **** set you purchase separately. Mo$!!! Also the door was slightly warped and I question how well it can keep water out, we will see. The pod xl was shipped with the brackets loose and they beat things up a little. I don't see why they would not use a hydraulic cylinder for the door instead of the props. Seems cheap. But it all works well enough for my plans and I am generally pleased with the whole shebang. Once over the sticker shock I feel good about my set-up and Roof Top Overland will be my go to in the future.
