The Axe-Shovel Combo Mount is an ingenious way to mount both your camp axe and recovery shovel to the top of your K9 Roof Rack System. It is designed to accommodate any size or style axe and shovel by clamping to the handle shafts. The cover clamps down to reduce rattle, and there is a loop provided for attaching a lock. The mount has a flat back surface, so it can attach to the 8mm T slots on the top of the rack. This mount is not able to be used on the side of the rack.

I’ve had the mount on for servile weeks now and will say I’m running a fiskers axe/shovel in the mount. The shovel wants to rotate (spin) inside the mount meaning the head of the shovel wants to start rubbing whatever the mount is mounted to. (I see this being an issue with all shovels due to the round shaft) holds the axe fine. I went on an Overlanding trip last weekend and noticed In order for the mount to securely hold the axe/shovel you really have to crank down the knobs and that makes is very difficult to undue the knobs later on. On this Overlanding trip I got snagged on some smaller trees (overgrown trail for sure) and the shovel got pulled completely out of the mount and was left on the trail, didn’t notice but was able to pick it up on our way out. Now through out the snag the mount got bent in so many ways, soft metal I was able to bend it all back into place with my hands except the bolds(clamps) I had to hammer those strait. So I was previously running quick fists and ran that for a hard and a half never had an issue with them except they didn’t lock.
